Someday
(I put this here for no reason whatsoever besides that I wanted to!)
I knew I loved you
By: Ryuu
She stood up to see a dark form flit over to her. They embraced and she knew him, her brother, he seemed so familiar yet distant. She tightened her grasp but the figure she held turned to black fumes and wisped away. It left her empty with emotion and on her knees reaching. She stretched an arm out to him but she was frozen to the spot. She called ‘brother’ to him but still the blackness flew away. She was trapped in her longing and darkness wrapped around her. Through the blanket of blackness she called again but to no avail. He was gone.
She was so close…yet so far.
Yukina woke up with an outstretched arm and sweat coursing down her body. Crystal blue spheres had collected on her pillow beside her aching head. She gathered them up and placed them delicately into an open box on the floor of her room. It was almost full of gems just like them, for she cried every night for her lost brother. She sighed and sat back deep in thought.
In the morning she woke and found no more tear gems lying next to her. With a grievous sigh she dressed and left her room entering the temple. She felt like being alone today to sulk and think. She walked to the entrance of the temple and peered out. No one was out there, which was good. With her head to the ground, she slid outside but the solitude was soon interrupted.
“Yukina-san?†Kuwabara hesitantly walked out to her. She couldn’t help but smile at him for she had a deep affection for him. “ Yukina-san,†he gulped,
“Can I ask you a question?†He smiled nervously at her.
“ Of course Kuwabara! What is on your mind?†She smiled back and Kuwabara’s legs were like putty. He laughed a little as he got down on one knee and fumbled with something in his pocket. He had been waiting for this day and summing up enough courage to do this since Yusuke had proposed to Kayko. He finally pulled a tiny satin red box from the inside of his pocket and opened it. She looked at him quizzically, not quite sure what to do or how to react to the contents of the box. Kuwabara swallowed loudly once more.
“ Yukina?†Her eyes grew wide awaiting the next sentence. “ Yukina, will you marry me?â€
Hiei grew rigid as the hairs on the back of his neck stood on end. He averted his attention and waited. What was that? The distraction was just enough to give his opponent the upper hand. THWAK! He was smacked across the face and thrown back. This was followed by a flurry of other punches and swipes. Hiei could do nothing, he was stunned. He had been distracted and then defeated. This lower class youkai had defeated the forbidden child due to an unknown distraction. Leaving Hiei to suffer and eventually die, the youkai left believing this was the end of the dreaded fire demon. Nevertheless, Hiei wouldn’t give up so easily. He staggered up clutching his side where there was a deep gushing wound. He sprang lightly into a tree and then another one and so on. Luckily, Genkai’s temple wasn’t too far. He could just see it when he began to swoon. Things went blurry as he reached to nearest tree, he felt very faint. Due to his current condition, Hiei barely reached the tree and his foot slipped off the branch, sending him floating to the ground. He fell with his face to the sky, his eyelids became very heavy and his head pounded.
“HIEI!†Yukina ran to him and all the excitement had drained from her face. She cradled his head in her lap. She leaned over him and worry swelled in her eyes. Hiei just starred dreamily up at her shining face. This was after all what he wanted; to be close to his sister. He let himself melt into the moment and smiled. He closed his eyes and a dazed look crossed his face as he subsided to unconsciousness. Yukina hovered over him and rocked him close to her.
“Yukina, I thought you were right behind me!†Kuwabara again peered outside; a wide toothy I-am-the-king-of-the-universe grin was spread from ear to ear. It soon disappeared when he saw Hiei and Yukina’s worried look.
“ Yukina!? Are you all right? What happened?!†She only looked up at him with glassy eyes. He helped her up but she would not let go of Hiei’s limp body. So together, they carried him inside to an empty room. Yukina bandaged and medicated him herself and would not leave his side.
“ But Yukina…â€Kuwabara began to protest, but was stopped by Genkai’s outstretched arm.
“ Let her be, Kazuma. She feels sorry for him and wishes to tend to him. “Now let us go.†With that they turned and left reluctantly.
Hiei opened one eye and surveyed the room.
“ Where am I?†He bolted up, a movement he would soon regret. A sharp pain shot through his side and he layback down grimacing. He looked to his side and found Yukina asleep in a chair. “Yukina.†He whispered this to himself softly and stretched out an aching arm to her but soon recoiled when she responded to her name. She snapped awake and looked at him with surprise and jubilance.
“ Oh you are awake! I am so glad,†she embraced him. Her grasp stung but he would not dare tell her to get off. Instead he winced and kept the pain to himself and just enjoyed to moment.
“ Oh I am so sorry! I didn’t mean to touch your bandages.†She pulled back. Hiei only starred at her. Their crimson eyes met and he contemplated telling her who exactly he was. He was jumbled in emotions. He did not want to hurt her! What if he told her and she did not approve of him? Alternatively, what if he died in battle right after she found out? It would crush her that’s what would happen! On the other hand he was slowly crushing her on the inside by not telling her. Grief welled up inside of him and he could feel the desire swell up into the back of his throat. If only he could let out the few words he longed to utter. ‘I am your brother.’ However, he could not bring himself to say it, to hurt her, to confess to her. She was too precious to him, too important, more important then even he himself. She was his everything. He could not and would not cause her pain. He broke the stare and looked away. A knock came at the door.
“ Yukina? You have to come out! It’s been two days! You need to eat something!†Kuwabara came in defiantly. “ Oh good, the shrimp is awake-I mean, Hiei has woken up! Come on now Yukina!â€
“Hn.†Hiei didn’t even look at him. ‘That imbecile!’ he thought. Yukina allowed herself to be led out of the room. ‘ Two days’ he thought, ‘Two days for me? She sat in here the whole time?’ He sat and pondered the thought for a while before sleep ebbed at him again and he gave in to it.
The next morning he woke refreshed and painless. He hopped out of bed and reached for his clothes. However, he saw something that stopped him. A box filled with tear gems labeled ‘brother’. Was it possible that she knew? On the other hand, did she keep all her gems in there? Moreover, were all of them for him? The empty longing crawled into his throat again and he proceeded to take off the useless bandages and dress himself, deep in thought. Before leaving the room, he went back to the box. He scooped up the gems and let them fall out of his palm. Then he picked up one and fingered it before dropping it into a pocket on the inside of his cloak. He left the room and went towards where he heard voices. He entered a room where Yukina, Kuwabara, and Genkai were happily munching away on breakfast.
“ Oh good! Are you feeling better? Hiei, sit and eat!†Yukina offered him a seat next to her. How could he refuse? He sat down and filled his plate with anything sweet and sugary that he could find. For a while they ate in silence. Hiei gladly accepted any food offered to him. Since he hadn’t eaten for three days, his normally humongous appetite had increased ten folds. Half way through devouring a muffin Hiei noticed that Kuwabara had his I-am-the-king-of-the-universe grin on again. He turned to Yukina. His smile broadened, if that was possible.
“ We should start planning Yukina!†He giggled. ‘How gay’ Hiei thought, ‘he laughs like a schoolgirl!’ He swallowed the muffin in his mouth and reached for his tea. He took a sip and grimaced. Bluck! It needed sugar! He reached for the sugar bowl, poured half of it in his cup, and stirred. Yukina gave him a strange look as his face contented and he thought ‘just right’. “Well I guess he is all better!†Kuwabara snickered. Hiei just gave him a death glare and Kuwabara went back to talking with Yukina. “ Anyways, we should plan it soon! Everyone should come! There will be…†He went on but Hiei paid no attention to him. He hated the big ol’ baka. He continued to stuff himself. Once he was finished he stood up and dusted the crumbs off him. Then he remembered that he had had his katana with him when he came.
“Hn. Where is my katana?†He had interrupted Kuwabara’s ranting, and the orange haired dolt looked down at him indignantly. Hiei again gave him a death glare and turned to Yukina for an answer.
“ Oh sorry! It’s in my room,†she told him while she got up herself. She motioned him to follow so he did. They came to a small but quaint room. She bustled in and rearranged some things. He followed expressionless. She walked over to a small desk and picked up the katana. It lay next to another box. This one was only partially full with gems.
“Here you are,†she said while handing the sword to Hiei. He was still starring at the box, pondering the same thoughts as before. “Hiei?†Yukina stepped in front of him; a look of worry crossed her face. Hiei snapped back to reality and grabbed his katana.
“ Uh, thank...you, for everything.†A slight smile was on his face and Yukina returned it with a pat on the shoulder. They walked out of the room and back to the dinning room. Yukina went and sat back down but Hiei made for the door. No one protested his leaving so he jumped into the trees.
“ O wait!†Yukina yelled after him but he had already gone out of earshot, “I never got a chance to tell him…†She sat back down and Kuwabara continued his conversation with her.
Hiei nonchalantly hopped through the trees. He was happy to be out of the stuffy temple but he regretted leaving so early. He stopped in one tree and sat down. Although he had been asleep for three days he couldn’t help but take a nap in the shade of the great oak he stopped on. He lay down, cradled in the ancient bows of the tree. He sighed to himself and tucked his arms under his head to rest on. Soon he was out and dreaming peacefully. Well peacefully until he encountered a nightmare. It was one he had often, before he found Yukina. He didn’t quite know what she looked like then but now he did so her face was seen clearly. She stood before him happily, smiling. He advanced to her and opened his mouth. ‘Would you like to say something?’ She asked and smiled more broadly. ‘ Yes’ He replied gaily, ‘ I wanted to tell you your search is over. I am your brother!’ She looked at him with surprise etched in every feature of her face. At first, she seemed happy and overjoyed but then she backed up in horror and screamed. ‘ Get away’ she yelled, ‘ You’ll kill me and the rest of the koorime!’ She ran from him, he could only stand there, stunned. Again, he had been rejected ad left alone with that horrible longing. He couldn’t understand why he kept having this dream! Yukina obviously didn’t feel that way about her brother yet it still held him back. He woke up with a start. Sweat covered every part of his panting body. Night had fallen and he was still in his oaken bed, alone. He sat up and looked around, he stopped and looked up at the silver pool that was the moon. It’s brilliance leaked all around him and he caught his breath and jumped to the ground gracefully. He wandered through the woods for the rest of the night and ended up in a park. He sat on a bench and saw a familiar face coming at him. Emerald eyes stared at him while a smile spread across his narrow face. Kurama stood there beside him smiling softly. He ran his slender finger through his long red hair and sighed. Hiei made an ‘Hn’ sound and looked back at him.
“What are you doing here?†Kurama asked casually. No answer. “Are you going?†That caught his attention.
“Going where?†He gazed at him interested now.
“ What do you mean where? To the party tonight of course!†Hiei only looked at him curiously.
“ You mean you don’t know?! I thought you would have been the first one they told!â€
“ What party? Who told? What for? “ Hiei queried anxiously. He leaned toward Kurama, intrigued. He needed to know now, he was too curious.
“ Tell me fox!â€
“ Alright but try to keep your temper! The party is for uh…. Yukina and… “ Hiei didn’t even need him to finish that statement to know who he meant. “They are getting married.†It took a minute for that to sink in but shock spread through Hiei’s face like lightning. He couldn’t believe it! That dumb oaf Kuwabara asked his sister to marry him! But the worst part was that she said yes! He couldn’t help but to be enraged; he couldn’t control it! His own sister was taken away again, or was she? He clenched his hands into fists and gritted his teeth. Anger swelled up inside him still. “Now Hiei! Please!†Kurama tried to calm the seething fire demon but failed. In a blink of the eye, Hiei had flitted back into the trees. His feet had a mind of their own. He found himself flying toward the temple. He stopped; he couldn’t face his sister in such rage. That might scare her away for good. He tried to suppress it but found it too overwhelming. The youkai whipped out his katana and relieved his stress upon the trees. Branches flew this way and that, birds left their perches and nests as the rage filed jaganshi sliced into their trees. Once he had felled at least seven trees, he fell to his knees and struck his weapon into the ground. This wasn’t helping. He sighed deeply and bowed his head. ‘Stupid ningen, s**t’ he thought. But was he really taking her away? ‘At least she will be happy or I’ll kill him! Maybe she won’t need me anymore…then what would I do?’ He shook the thoughts away and sheathed his katana. He straightened himself and walked to the outskirts of the temple grounds. He didn’t want to see them together, but he couldn’t help but be magnetically brought to the temple. He only sat there in the tree where he had fallen out of a few days earlier. He stood there and stared for many long minutes. Yukina finally exited the front of the temple and stood at the top of the stairs. Hiei picked up a familiar youkai. Kurama was ascending the stairs to Yukina. A cloud of stinky cologne hung around him and Hiei almost coughed in disgust. ‘Uck, s**t fox, what the heck is that’ he thought repulsively. Kurama heard Hiei’s repressed cough and looked up into the trees but by then Hiei had jumped away to save himself from the odorous cologne. He had relocated himself to a larger oak in the back quarters of the temple. Its outer branches hung over a long deck where the party would be held until early evening. Hiei could see all the food set out buffet style. His mouth watered and his eyes were starry. He almost fell again when he leaned out to smell the precious food. He could feel the unquenched ache of hunger eating at his stomach. But he bit his lip and decided not to leave the safety of the tree. Instead he sat back and took a short nap to forget his hunger.
Yukina stood at the front of the temple and greeted everyone. First Kurama had come dressed in a red sweater and khaki pants. He had given Yukina a rose and congratulated her. Then came Kayko dragging Yusuke. He was dressed in a tuxedo and obviously didn’t like it. Nonetheless he greeted Yukina happily and congratulated her as well. He proceeded inside and went straight to the food. Kayko on the other hand stopped and tried to read Yukina’s expression.
“Yukina, you look upset and worried. You should be happy, you’re getting married!†Yukina tried to look like she wasn’t upset in anyway but Kayko saw through it. “You can tell me if something is wrong you know!â€
“ Well…,†Yukina began; Botan and Koenma landing and approaching them interrupted her.
“We’ll finish this conversation later, but please do try to cheer up!†Kayko walked inside and found Yusuke trying to get out of his tie.
Kuwabara took a nice jaunt around the room as the guests arrived. He shook everyone hand at least once wearing his toothy wide grin that was spread from ear to ear. By the time Hiei woke up, the party space was filled with people. The food was quickly diminishing and Hiei wanted so badly to jump down and devoir it all. Yet, he remained in his tree ever diligent. Yukina sat alone until Kayko joined her sympathetically. She hadn’t eaten a thing and they still hadn’t finished their conversation.
“So are you okay, Yukina?†Kayko put her haqnd on the koorime’s shoulder and smiled tenderly.
“Well I am upset. I really wanted my brother to be here for this! I wanted him to give me away at my wedding. Yet I still have to find him…†Hiei had leaned closer to listen and his knees almost gave out. He had again indirectly hurt her. She gulped to keep down the pain and looked ahead with glassy eyes.
“That’s not all is it Yukina? There is something else isn’t there? I can tell!†She looked at Yukina pleadingly and urged her to continue.
“Well I did hope to see…Hiei.†This almost made Hiei fall from his leafy sanctuary. “I was going to tell him but he left so quickly the last time I saw him….†She trailed off but Kayko knew that she could speak no longer.
“I’m sure Kurama must have him. Don’t worry Yukina, I’m sure he’ll show up.†Then she glanced over to see Yusuke starting a fight with one of Kuwabara’s drunken friends. She went over to see if she could stop it and left Yukina alone. ‘Where is that stupid ningen?’ Thought Hiei, ‘Why is he leaving her all alone?’ He spotted Kuwabara over by Yusuke, cheering him on. ‘Disgusting’ he thought again.
Kurama was set a part from everyone looking at the flowers that clung to the side of the temple. Hiei flitted over to him in a dark spot.
“Foxâ€, he whispered. Kurama looked up and saw the two crimson eyes among the leaves.
“Hiei! I thought…â€
“SH! Hn, don’t let anyone else hear you. Pretend your talking to the bush or something.â€
“Okay,†Kurama started in a hushed voice. “I didn’t think you would come but I’m glad you did…â€
“Fox, stop talking! I wanted to tell you to go and keep Yukina company! That baka is too busy being himself to notice her all alone.†He shot a cold, loathsome glare at Kuwabara. Kurama nodded and began to walk towards Yukina. Hiei followed in the trees, keeping his distance. Kurama sat down and crossed his legs.
“You know, I did tell Hiei about this. I think he’ll show any time now.†Kurama stared directly into Hiei’s eyes.
“How did you know I wanted him here?†Yukina looked at Kurama puzzled.
“ Oh…Only a guess. You just told me I was right.†He smiled sweetly and continued, “ Why do you like him so much?â€
“Well…this is going to sound silly…but …he is like a brother to me…He is everything I’d want in a brother…†Kurama smiled like he had just proven a point to Hiei. His emerald eyes pleaded him to make an appearance. He couldn’t though; again, he was jumbled in emotions. He couldn’t decide what to do.
It was getting dark out and the guests began to file inside. Kuwabara and company followed gradually. Kurama and Yukina’s conversation had steered away from Hiei and towards Kuwbara. When this happened, the fire youkai lost interest and lay back in his tree. Finally Kurama left and went inside; he pulled Yukina in with him. Once he had mingled her into a crowd, he went back outside and sat down on the wall.
“You can come out now Hiei, you needn’t hide when it’s only me.†Hiei cautiously crept out from the tree and sat on the far side of Kurama.
“Why do you hide still? If she would to come out would you runaway? Why, Hiei, why?â€
“I’m not hiding…and don’t runaway…†He made his ‘HN’ sound and looked at the ground.
“Then why not just tell her!? Why not give in? Just~â€
“Just what???†Hiei snapped. “You don’t understand! You have never felt such pain and angst!!†He stood up and looked deeply at the youko. His eyes were stern and his face was stern.
“If you’d only open up and tell me! Then I could know what its like!†Kurama looked worried but Hiei only scoffed and prepared to re-enter his tree.
“HIEI!†Yukina had come back out, she ran over to them excitedly. “I thought I heard you out here…are you already leaving?†Her eyes were deep and pleading yet overjoyed at his site.
“Yukina…I…congratulations,†Hiei stayed, stunned. He turned around to face his sister. “ I was…uh…just coming to see you.â€
“I’m glad you came! Here come inside! Say hello to everyone!†She pulled on his sleeve and he was led inside. He gave a long glance to Kurama as if to say ‘help’. Kurama shrugged and gave him an expression of ‘you got yourself into it, not me.’ Yukina had dragged him right into a crowd where Yusuke and Kuwabara were. They greeted him; they were drunk though and their babble proved it.
“Come on shrimp! Have something to drink!†Kuwabara stammered. He attempted to hit Hiei with his drink but he moved and the liquid splattered onto Yusuke. He only grinned maniacally and threw his drink onto Kuwabara. Alternately, he emptied a pitcher of liquid on Yusuke, starting s huge drink fight among his friends. Somewhere in the middle of it, all was Hiei, trying to fight his way out of the mess. He tried his best to dodge all of the flying liquids and succeeded in doing so. He had found his way to the exit that led back outside, when someone grabbed his arms. He turned and gave one of Kuwabara’s friends a scornful look. He began to pull away but before he could, Yusuke and Kuwabara came up to him and dumped a whole tub of soda over his head. He was drenched and was let go, steam rising from him as he seethed in anger. He stormed outside and again he was ready to leave. He sprung to the air but he saw Yukina alone again and stopped. He came back down and walked over to her. She was misty eyed and stared at him.
“Oh Hiei! What happened? Are you ok? Come here ~†she got up and walked over to where Hiei landed. His hair was wet and sticky and his clothes were soaked. She took out a handkerchief and tried to wipe his face, he pulled away. He took the cloth from her outstretched hand and wiped off all the wetness that he could. He pulled off his cloak and she took it to be washed. “Please take a shower here. I’ll wash this and dry it but don’t leave please.†He couldn’t resist the expression on her face. He sat down and continued to dry his hair.
“I’ll wait here, I’d rather not try my luck in there again,†he said underneath the cloth. Yukina smiled and walked inside. Hiei hadn’t noticed Kurama was in the darkness and was still watching.
“Hn. Come out, kitsune. You cannot hide,†Hiei continued to ruffle the cloth through his hair. Kurama stepped forward and stood next to Hiei.
“What happened to you?†The question was rhetorical and Hiei knew it, so there was no answer. “You know she cares so much about you. The least you can do is tell her. I mean she definitely aches for the truth.†Hiei stared blankly forward and tossed the cloth from hand to hand. He fiddled with it before either of them broke the silence. “What is holding you back? I’ll tell her if you don’t!â€
“You wouldn’t do that kitsune. I don’t know what holds me back but it does and I can’t help it. I…I……†He stopped and tried to find the words. “ I am confused,†he finally uttered. Kurama looked at him and he understood. He said nothing though when Hiei flew up into the treetop to be alone.
It had become rather late and guests were leaving. Hiei had cleaned himself and his clothes were drying. Kuwabara had fallen asleep somewhere and was being dragged to his room. Kurama and Hiei were the only people left who didn’t belong there. Yukina bustled around and cleaned up everything and Genkai was busy cleaning dishes and such. Kurama was getting ready to go home and Hiei was off to the side sulking. He wanted to go but he needed his clothing to dry. He went back outside and sat on the wall. Yukina came out after him, worried.
“You shouldn’t be out here in the cold, please come back in.†She smiled and held out her hand to help him up. He shook his head.
“I like it fine out here, thank you.†He crossed his arms cross his chest and leaned back. She looked at him for a while and then hopped onto the wall next to him.
“Then I’ll stay out here. Listen, I wanted to tell you something.†She looked up at him and a blank expression crossed her face. He stared back and their crimson eyes met yet again. “I wanted to say I’m glad you came, truly. You know …you are like a brother to me…†No expression crossed his stern face; he’d already heard her say this before. Something urged up and forced itself into his throat. He opened his mouth as if to say something but closed it before he could. He tossed what Kurama said earlier around in his head. ‘What’s holding you back?’ He didn’t even know what it was but it had done a good job so far of not letting him speak the truth. It bound him back every time he got closer to saying it, every time he even thought of telling her. Except now, he would break through the barricade and let it out. He hopped down the wall and faced Yukina with sorrowful eyes.
“I am sorry,†he stared,†Sorry I never told you.â€
“Told me what?†Yukina looked confused and troubled.
“Told you…that…I…am…your,†It caught him and held on tight, he was stuck again. He could speak no longer. He only had to speak one word but his teeth were clenched and he attempted but failed. He closed his hands into fists and tried to relax. The angst was killing him. He couldn’t bear to look into her eyes any longer, they were so hopefully anxious. ‘Damn myself’ he thought. He began to form the painful word ‘brother’, but only the ‘Br’ came out. He could stand it no longer. He had come so far only to crawl back into his shell. It grabbed hold of him and grabbed him hard; he backed up. Water filled his eyes and he lifted off and flew into the night. He had lost a battle with himself and he felt the ache of defeat. When he lifted off, a tear dropped from one eye and formed an ebony pearl. Yukina heard it ping on the ground and went over to pick it up. She fingered it and then remembered what Hiei was able to say. This must have been a sort of tear gem for him. ‘But only koorime…’ Yukina debated. Then it hit her and her own gems fell to the ground with happiness. It was very clear that she had finally found her brother.

Maybe it’s intuition:
A bad feeling raced up his spine as he ran in the dark of the night storm.
Some things you just don’t question:
He didn’t know if or how a thing like this could have happened.
Like in your eyes:
He remembered the way those green eyes looked at him.
I see my future in an instant:
He could tell many more things were to come… but never this.
And there it goes:
All his hopes for a peaceful life went out like a candle.
I think I found my best friend:
He knew some how his friend, the only friend he knew was gone.
Know that it might sound more than a little crazy:
No matter how insane it sounded, he had to be sure.
But I believe:
Some of his most wildest dreams had came true before… but he prayed to God that this wasn’t one of them…. but he did believe it.
I knew I loved you before I met you:
He wanted to if “He” was really safe. Everyone has someone they love because a best friend is a kind of person you love no matter what. He didn’t know what that kind of love felt like until now.
I think I dreamed you into life:
His whole friendship still seemed like a dream. They were only friends… best friends. It was the kind of person that was in dreams, only real.
I knew I loved you I met you:
Kurama was a dear friend of his, so it naturally means they always talked, hung-out, fought beside each other, etc. and meant that they loved each other for “Friends”.
I have been waiting all my life:
He wished for years he could have a friend, someone to help, to care, to turn to, to lean on. Now that he had one he had to do his best from letting it slip off of his hands. In other words, he would not give up his “fox” without a fight.
There’s just no other reason:
Nothing at all would stop him from getting to Kurama’s house. His mind told him that it was all okay and that nothing was wrong but that reason alone wouldn’t stop him.
Only the sense of completion:
He felt a feeling slip away from his heart like a four-year-old sneaking down stairs to get a midnight snack, quiet but obvious. In minutes’ time it was gone… the feeling that completed him.
And in your eyes, I see the missing pieces; I’m searching for,:
Suddenly it stuck him like the lighting of the storm that he was caught in. The missing link was the feeling of Kurama’s eyes. Was he to late? He sped his run to full speed, which was fast but not as fast as it would have been if he had been in his real form.
I think I’ve found my way home:
He remembered the way Kurama always help him out, almost like a big brother, in a family and like the home he never had, where someone cared for him.
Know that it might sound more than a little crazy:
He finally reached Kurama’s house and started pounding on the door like a madman.
But I Believe:
His mother answered the door. Tears were flooding her face as she looked at her son’s drenched friend. “Hiei… you’re here,” She said weakly. “What happened?” Hiei asked. “You’re to late…” She started. His dream was right.
I knew I loved you before I met you:
Kurama’s mother let him in, immediately Hiei ran up to the fox’s room. He almost broke the door trying to get in and when he did get in he nearly cried. Kurama was laying in his bed. He was very still and very pale. “I’m so sorry,” The voice of his best friend’s mother said behind him. Hiei nodded he couldn’t say anything because his voice was stuck in his throat. He walked over to the bed and sat down at the edge of it.
I think I dreamed you into life:
Hiei wanted this to be a nightmare. That he’d wake up in a few minutes and see the smile that he put too small a price on but now found it was the most valuable thing in the world. He held Kurama’s cold lifeless hand tight in his never wanting to let it go. At that, instant Hiei’s heart ached in loss.
I knew I loved you before I met you:
Hiei wanted to cry for the first time in his life. “How Fox?” He whispered. “How could you leave me? Why did you leave me? You’re the only person who understands me the only person who cared. I don’t know what I’ll do with out you.”
I have been waiting all my life:
‘Life’s not worth living without Kurama,’ Hiei thought to himself. He was all tangled up in emotions, like a helpless bug caught in a spider web. A feeling like all of Makai had frozen over.
I knew I loved you before I met you:
The next thing Hiei knew was he was quietly moaning over Kurama’s body. He knew he should have never got attached to anything because he knew he’d end up losing it.
I think I dreamed you into life:
Hiei stayed with Kurama for hours on end. Finally, Hiei slowly stood up and gently placed his friend’s hand down on the bed and walked down the stairs. He saw Kurama’s mother crying on the couch. He quietly stepped over to her and kissed her on the cheek. She looked at him and smiled. “You know you are like a mother to me,” He said. “I think you should go up there, sorry I was being selfish.” “But you weren’t” She said to him. Hiei shrugged. Her smile was a little bit bigger when she went up ‘He is a nice person, just hiding behind the curtain. Like Kurama said’ She thought.
I knew I loved you before I met you:
Hiei opened the front door and walked out to Kurama’s rose garden as the rain poured.
I have been waiting all my life:
He went down on his knees and picked a crimson rose. Hiei stared at it a long time then brushed his finger softly on the smooth petals. “Kurama,” His red eyes lit up in anger. “You Stupid FOX! What did you say so many times?!? ‘I’LL NEVER LEAVE YOU, HIEI’ AND I BELIEVED YOU!!!!! WHAT A FOOL I AM TO TRUST!” Hiei pounded his fist on the soaked earth beneath him and for once… black tears made an appearance out of the corners of his eyes and fell to the ground, staining the grass. He stayed there though storm though still ravaged on.
I Knew I loved you:
When Hiei was finally calmed down, it was morning and no rain was in sight. When he was about to swear he’d never love or get attached to anything ever again when he thought about Kurama. ‘Would he want me to do this?’ Hiei questioned himself, though the answer was an obvious ‘no’. Hiei smiled at the rose that he still griped in his hand. He laid it on the ground. Then stood up and left, still aching terribly.
Before I met you:
As Hiei walked home something caught his eye. He turned and saw a red fox. It seemed to have been watching him the whole time with it’s big, emerald green eyes. Hiei chuckled and bowed his head slightly as the fox did the same. “See ya around fox,” Hiei said and then continued home leaving the fox alone as it stared, once again, at him.
